Ready to do the most impactful work of your career? At Coinbase, we are uncompromising on our mission to increase economic freedom. The bar is high, the environment is intense, and we like it that way. This isn't a place for complacency, it’s a place to be pushed past your perceived limits. If you're ready to build the future of finance alongside people who refuse to settle for "good enough," you belong here. Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” learn more about working at Coinbase.
We are hiring Staff Software Engineers across several teams within the Developer Infrastructure group in Platform. You'll own the tools and systems every Coinbase engineer depends on to build and ship software. This team is responsible for scalable CI and build infrastructure and deployment orchestration, where a single improvement compounds across thousands of engineers. You'll set technical direction for the group's most complex, cross-cutting problems and lead their delivery from ambiguous problem statements through production operation.
What you'll do:
Own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration, across the full lifecycle from design through production operation.
Identify the group's highest-leverage problems, turn ambiguous and unscoped challenges into concrete technical roadmaps, and drive alignment across dependent teams.
Drive step-change improvements to the metrics every engineer feels: build and CI wall time, deploy speed and safety, and developer feedback latency.
Lead strategic, cross-cutting initiatives end to end, including large-scale platform migrations, landing them across many teams alongside the engineers doing the work.
Raise the reliability bar for developer infrastructure by owning SLOs, observability, and on-call, designing systems that recover fast rather than cascade into company-wide inciden…

About CircuitHubCircuitHub is reshaping electronics manufacturing with The Grid, a factory-scale robotics platform that makes small-batch, high-mix electronics assembly radically more efficient. Think semiconductor-fab precision applied to the chaotic world of prototyping and low-volume production: a 10x throughput improvement in one of the world's most foundational industries.
We've raised $45M from top-tier investors including Plural, Y Combinator and Google Ventures, and we're already profitable. Our customers include a major EV maker, a top AI lab and many of the worlds largest companies.
The Grid isn't a prototype. It's live, scaling fast and delivering real revenue, and we're building the team that will scale it further.
What you'll do
Architect the robot operating system. Design the core abstractions: how robots, cameras, tools and jobs are modelled, how work is planned and dispatched, how state is shared and how failures are handled. Decide what belongs in Python and what needs Rust.
Bring in new vision. Integrate novel computer vision algorithms into the control loop, from finding and centring parts to checking every pick and placement, and make them fast and reliable enough for production.
Build agentic robotics. Put large models to work in the robots themselves: programming a new part from its datasheet, judging a pick from a camera image, diagnosing a fault and recovering from it, with evals that prove it works before it runs alone.
Move a fleet. Route dozens of movers at once without collisions or deadlocks, and coordinate gantries, printers and ovens around them.
Bridge to real time. Design clean interfaces between high-level planning and the real-time controllers driving the motors.
Make it observable. Simulation, tracing and replay, so every change is proven before it reaches the factory and every failure can be explained.

What You’ll DoAs a Product Engineer at CircuitHub, you will own entire production software systems end-to-end, from understanding operational problems on the factory floor through designing, building, deploying, and operating the software that solves them. You’ll be responsible for entire systems rather than isolated tickets, owning problems from discovery through deployment and operational impact.
This includes building and maintaining the internal operational stack that seamlessly connects planning, materials, purchasing, personnel, and factory processes, transforming complex manufacturing workflows into highly reliable, usable software. You’ll partner closely with factory operators, engineers, and company leadership to ensure CircuitHub’s factories scale smoothly as demand and Grid capabilities grow.
Example Projects:
Develop production planning tools and inventory/materials-flow systems
Improve factory operator workflows
Integrate new automation equipment
Apply AI and LLMs to automate operational decision making, from purchasing and production planning to machine diagnostics and debugging.

The Grid isn't a prototype. It's live, scaling fast and delivering real revenue, and we're building the team that will scale it further.
Overview
CircuitHub is primarily built using a combination of Haskell, Nix, and PostgreSQL, deployed to both AWS and bare metal machines. We use a significant amount of open-source technology, and also try and give back where possible (for example, both Rel8 and Fast Downward Haskell bindings).
CircuitHub spans a vast problem space. Challenges include computer vision (OpenCV), machine learning (PyTorch), hard optimization problems (Z3/MiniZinc/OR-Tools), and all the normal engineering challenges of building both web-based customer-facing and internal tooling.
We work on manufacturing execution systems, enterprise resource planning, and robotics. An old video from Haskell Exchange 2019 hints at what we are up to on the robotics side. We have progressed significantly since then!
These roles are remote (any location), in-person, or hybrid, depending on preference.
We have offices in South Deerfield - USA, Cambridge, and London, UK.
Salary depends on the candidate and location, but as guidance in the UK, a likely range is £80k to £125k and in the US $125k to $250k, with additional equity.
CircuitHub has raised $45M from top-tier VCs and has been going for about ten years. CircuitHub is profitable, with tens of millions in revenue. Sma…

The Grid isn't a prototype. It's live, scaling fast and delivering real revenue, and we're building the team that will scale it further.
The RoleCircuitHub makes electronics on demand. Engineers upload a circuit board design; we buy the parts, build the board in our own robotic factory and ship it. More and more of that business is now run by AI agents, and we want you to help build them.
These aren't chatbots. Our agents have real jobs:
They inspect boards. An agent checks camera images of every panel we build for wrong, rotated or missing parts.
They program robots. Agents read datasheets so our pick-and-place machines know how to handle each new part.
They watch the factory. They spot stray parts in robot storage, diagnose printer faults and clear stuck machines.
They run the back office. They book supplier invoices, chase late orders, explain quotes and triage bugs.
They write our code. Most of what our team ships starts in an agent session.
What you'll doFind a process people still do by hand and automate it end to end: decide what needs judgement and what needs plain code, build the tools, and prove it works before it runs alone. Then make it cheaper, faster and right more often. You'll also improve the platform every agent runs on, and work closely with the people your work serves, from factory operators to finance.
